High Performance Work Organization

The High Performance Work Organization Partnership week-long school at Placid Harbor has become a driving force behind our union's strategy to help our members in every local and district across the U. S. and Canada save and create jobs. The week-long session addresses the following steps to high performance workplace change:

    The History of Work
    The Quality Movement
    Global Work and Competition
The IAM and the HPWO Partnership
    Activity Based Costing
    Proving out High Performance Work
    Strategic Planning
    Growing the Business
    Implementing the HPWO

Class instruction includes reports from locals and districts that have committed to partnering in workplace change that, in addition to creating new work, creates a new era of labor relations and a new philosophy that overcomes the low-wage, offshore strategy by organizations still enamored with the top-down, command-and-control work systems that emphasize worker involvement but fail to address real change. The program teaches partnering which will secure new work, raise skill levels, stabilize, and grow the business thereby saving and creating jobs. The goal is to create a mutual commitment to the implementation and acceptance of a fully functioning HPWO partnership.
