If you have any questions or problems concerning your room accommodations, please report it to the Housekeeping Office located just to the rear of the lobby. Guests please make the room available for cleaning by 10:00 a.m.
TELEPHONES: There are no telephones in the rooms. You will be notified of any incoming calls day or night. A sufficient number of pay phones are available for your use.
DIRECTORY: For your convenience we have the following items on the specified floors:

BEVERAGES/SNACKS: When classes are in session, the first floor foyer will be set up with coffee, tea, ice, and fruit. There are also coin operated soda and snack machines.
DINING ROOM/BAR: To reach the Dining Room and/or Bar, go to the South end of the building and exit. From this point, posted signs will guide you to your destination. Bar times will be announced during Orientation Session. Alcoholic beverages are NOT ALLOWED to be kept or consumed in the dormitory building including the sleeping rooms.
SECURITY: For your safety we maintain 24-hour security. For this reason, the only door with outside access after 11:00 p.m. is located at the Lobby entrance. A Security Guard is stationed there except when making rounds, then all doors are locked for about 15 minutes.
We are equipped with two different alarm bells that sound completely different. The FIRE ALARM has a FOG HORN sound and should be investigated. The other is a CONTINUOUS RINGING BELL that is just a warning sign for maintenance/security to inspect the sewer pumps.
GUESTS: The spouse and children of participants may attend Placid Harbor on the basis of space availability.
Fees for a spouse is $25.00 per day. Fees for a spouse and children staying in the same room with the participant is $35.00 per day with a limit of three (3) children per room. Fees include room and meals. Fees for families should be paid in the Director’s Office (3rd floor) no later than Wednesday. Baby cribs and roll-away beds are available upon request.
Family members of participants may use all facilities while the participants are in class. Use of the bar is only available when Feedback Inn is open. Use of Gym and Spa are not available to children under 17 without adult supervision.
CHILDREN: Children must be supervised at all times by their parents.
DAMAGE: The cost to repair or replace Placid Harbor equipment or property damaged by any participant of their family will be borne by the participant.
PETS: Are NOT ALLOWED.
STAMPS/MAIL: Stamps may be purchased in the Gift shop. There is a mail box in the Lobby.
BOATS: They do not belong to Placid Harbor and are off limits to attendees and their family members. Please do not tamper with any boats, equipment and crab pots.
OUTDOOR SPORTS: Tennis Courts, Golf, Shuffle Board, Bicycles, Horseshoes, Basketball and Playground. Equipment is available at the Pro Shop.
Swimming Pool is open daily during the season. Swimming allowed only when lifeguard on duty 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. No food or drinks in glass containers will be allowed in the pool area. No alcohol allowed.
INDOOR SPORTS: Table Tennis and Pool Tables are located in Lounge area next to Bar. Exercise room, steam room, whirlpool, and sauna room are located on 1st floor of dormitory building. Anyone with a heart condition/high blood pressure should NEVER use these facilities unless recommended by their doctor.
SMOKING POLICY: The State of Maryland has issued a regulation which bans smoking in the workplace, effective March 29, 1995. A review of the regulation indicates that all areas of Placid Harbor including offices and other areas now designated for smoking area included. Effective immediately, smoking will only be allowed outdoors and smokers are requested to please keep the grounds free from litter.
